CUBAN COUNTRY SINGER CELINA GONZALEZ TO BE CROWNED QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC DURING THE "GUANTANAMERA" FESTIVAL havana, December 14, 1998 (RHC)-- Renowned Cuban country singer Celina Gonzalez will be crowned the queen of country music during a festival entitled: "Guantanamera" which began on Monday in the eastern town of Guaso. The third edition of that eastern region's most important cultural event, which runs through December 18th, is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Celina Gonzalez' artistic career, the 70th anniversary of the internationally known song "La Guantanamera" and the recognition of the song's creator, Joseito Fernandez. . The festival will also include symposiums on the patrimony of the people's of the Caribbean, and libraries and their ties to the community, as well as painting contests and poetry readings. The Guantanamera Festival will also offer demonstrations of Cuban popular music and African culture and the presentation of a magazine called "The Sea and the Mountain".
