The hispanification of Cuba

There is nothing new in reports that various groups in Cuba are trying to hispanify the island.  This "blanceamiento" has been going on ever since slaves were brought in significant numbers at the beginning of the 1800's.  Immigracion from Europe was very much encouraged in the early part of the 1900's. Here we track some of the more visible signs of the current campaign which got underway after people started thinking that promoting the beauty of mulatas and negras was leading to increased prostitution.
