Juan Carlos BlancoJuan Carlos Blance hails from Guanabacoa, Cuba, were he danced professionally for over 15 years. He spent nine years dancing with Raices Profundas, rising to the position of lead male soloist and touring internationally in Mexico, Nicaragua and Japan. He danced, choreographed and acted with Arte Popular, a theater company directed by Tito Junco. Blanco also performed Modern dance with the innovative Cuban group Alabama. In 1997 he toured Peru with Afro-Cuban ensemble Arawe as lead soloist and choreographer. Blanco has taught Afro-Cuban and Popular Cuban dance at the Escuela Nacional de Arte and and El Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana. He currently teaches and directs his own Afro-Cuban company Omo Ache in the San Diego area. |
