Workshops for both new and experienced dancers ***
A
One day workshop, Saturday, July 29th, 2006, will give a great
opportunity for anyone who wishes to enrich his/her knowledge about Traditional
Afro-Cuban and Contemporary Cuban music and dance, as well as Brazilian and
Cuban line dances.
I.
SALSA FOR BEGINNERS & ADV. BEGINNERS: CUBAN STYLE SALSA = CASINO
This part will include the basics of Salsa
dance – Rhythm, Body Motion, footwork, Turns and Basic Combinations. Special
attention will be given to Leading/Following skills which later one can use in
any partner dance. Fits
dancers in Beginners and Advance Beginners levels.
II.
INTRODUCTION TO AFRO-CUBAN DANCE
This part will include the basics of
Afro-Cuban dance, the root of many known dance styles such as – Salsa, Cha Cha
Cha, Merengue and even Hip-Hop and Reggeton. Special attention will be given to
“Body motion/Technique” which later one can use in any dance.
Fits all levels.
III.
BRAZILIAN AND CUBAN LINE DANCING
Brazilian and Cuban line dances are based on
basic Samba and Salsa steps and great rhythms. It is a great way for an
individual dance and a good way to get to know your potential dance partners.
Clubs in Europe include these fun dances in their Salsa night, now in NY too.
Fits all levels.
IV.
ADVANCE COMBINATIONS IN CUBAN STYLE SALSA
This part will include advance patterns for
couple dancing and Group dancing (Rueda de Casino) from Havana and Santiago de
Cuba. Fits dancers in Intermediate and Advance levels.
Please note: Part (IV) is for dancers who dance Cuban salsa!
